IACP Visits with the National Computer Forensics Institute

Guest blogger – Bart R. Johnson, IACP Executive Director

On August 27, 2013, IACP Leadership had the opportunity to visit the United States Secret Service’s (USSS) National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover, Alabama. The NFCI facility is a state-of-the-art training center that has hosted hundreds of state, local and tribal law enforcement officers – for the purpose of being trained on computer forensic analysis and exploitation. The officers come to the NCFI from various backgrounds and agencies to learn how to handle digital evidence in criminal investigations, how to prepare search warrants, how to testify, and about the complexities associated with digital evidence.  The NFCI is staffed by knowledgeable professionals from federal, state, and local backgrounds all of whom are dedicated to serving others. If interested in learning about how to receive training from the NFCI, we encourage you to contact your local USSS Field Office.
