If you’re reading from home, we hope our more-than-daily updates keep you apprised of

Yesterday and today were primarily move-in and meeting days for IACP committee members, section members, and staffers, who have been planning this conference for more than a year. Tomorrow is the big first day for workshops and other large-scale events.

Education sessions begin at 8 a.m., and the last one ends at 3:30 p.m. Also, don’t miss the Heroes Behind the Badge documentary screening in the 10 a.m. to 12 noon in room 6A. The film by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund features stories about some of the brave men and women of law enforcement who have put their lives on the line and survived, as well as those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

After your final workshop of the day, be sure to go to Ballroom 20 for the Opening Ceremony. The San Diego Police Department, along with city and state dignitaries, will welcome IACP members to the conference in an official capacity. Music and a colorful display of police ceremonial pageantry will mark the beginning of the conference and set the stage for an even more event-filled Sunday.

The IACP app is great. The ability to set up a personal schedule of classes I am interested in is very handy.

  2. Although not new to public relations and communications, I am new to the field of public safety (5 months). I’m looking forward to meeting my counterparts from across the country and creating a network to call upon with best practice questions.

  3. Mark LaBerge says:

Looking forward to a full day of Educational Sessions and seeing the screening of Heros Behind the Badge. This is my fourth IACP conference and each has been better than the last.
