Show Daily: Tuesday’s Highlights and Wednesday’s Preview

We are fast approaching the end of IACP 2012. What happens if we don’t want to leave San Diego? Our thanks to the San Diego Police Department and Chief William Lansdowne for being such great hosts in a beautiful city.

Leave a comment below: What has been the most memorable component of IACP 2012 for you?

Today was filled with important education; we hope everyone found several nuggets of information to bring back to their home agencies. The speeches given during the Second General Assembly were inspiring and thought provoking, and the plenary Let’s Not Talk about It: Addressing Myths about Police Suicide and Implementing a National Initiative for Suicide Awareness and Prevention continued the essential conversation about protecting our own.

And at 2 p.m., we officially closed the Exhibit Hall. Be sure to follow up with company representatives whose contact information you collected, and check out the advertisements in Police Chief magazine for other cutting-edge products and services.

Tomorrow is the final day of the conference, and we hope you will stick around until the very end for our Annual Banquet.

This final day of education begins at 8 a.m.; check the schedule to identify which workshops will be most beneficial for you.

After education wraps at 12 noon, take the afternoon to enjoy the city of San Diego! We will see you back in the San Diego Convention Center’s Ballroom 20 for the Annual Banquet at 6 p.m. Be sure to join us for the formal swearing-in of the new IACP president, Chief Craig Steckler, and the board of officers. This is a black-tie-optional event (business suits are appropriate). Entertainment will be provided by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band; tickets are required.

What a fantastic Conference. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost over. But it’s only a little over a year until the 120th Conference in Philadelphia and I’m already making plans to attend. Big thanks to the IACP staff and the San Diego PD for making this conference and outstanding event.
