Victim Services Series – Waco Police Department

In 2012, the Waco Police Department’s Victim Services Unit, based out of Texas, was awarded the IACP and Login Inc.’s Excellence in Victim Services Award in the medium size agency category for their outstanding work with the victims of crime.

Representatives from the Waco Police Department accept the 2012 IACP/LogIn Excellence in Victim Services Award at the 119th Annual IACP Conference in San Diego, California.

The Waco PD Victim Services Unit serves as a voice for the crime victims of Waco, Texas. The unit provides on-scene crisis intervention to victims of crime, witnesses, and family members of the victim. The Victim Services Unit supports victims by providing assistance with housing and transportation when necessary, as well as supporting them throughout the court process.  Additionally, they put victims in contact with other resources for counseling and information.  The unit’s goal is to ensure that each victim’s needs are addressed by establishing a continuous relationship with them as they progress through the phases of recovery.
